Female choir of Nizhny Novgorod State Conservatoire (Academy) named after M. Glinka
The collective was founded in September of 2006. Small in its composition (12 - 17 singers) and yearly it is renewed on half (its participants are students of 1st and 2nd years of Choral Conducting department), the choir firmly holds the position of quite independent and having its own performing entity creative collective.
Constantly warm reception which is rendered to the choir by different from each other audiences could be explained by a thin expressiveness, sincerity, emotional elevation and sometimes even "infectiousness" of performance. Different concert programs which include best pieces of domestic and foreign classics of 6 centuries, transcriptions of vocal pieces, folk songs arrangements and pieces of popular music cause considerable public interest.
The success of the choir is largely due to the reigning in the collective of special creative atmosphere that appeared during the first year of choir's work.
The choir performs annual solo concerts at the Conservatoire's hall, concert stages of Nizhny Novgorod and closest regions of Nizhny Novgorod area, takes part in joint projects of creative collectives of the city, have toured in Russian cities such as Ivanovo, Yaroslavl, Rybinsk, Vologda; won diplomas of laureate of Choral festival named after L. Sivukhin, "Sheremetievskie" choral assemblies, Rybinsk choral festival dedicated to 100 anniversary of V. Sokolov's birthday.
Female choir of Conservatoire plays an important role in professional education of future choirmasters, being an active participant in annual competitions of conductors of specialized secondary schools and the base for conductor's practice of 3rd year students of Conducting department of Nizhny Novgorod State Conservatoire.
The author of the idea of the choir foundation and its artistic director is the professor of choral conducting cathedra N. Pokrovsky.
Since 2008 the concertmaster of the choir is a diploma winner of All-Russian competitions E. Grishanova.
Since its foundation and until 2008 the concertmaster of the choir was A. Kositskaya who is currently collaborating with the choir as organist.
Artistic director and conductor Nikolay Pokrovsky
Native citizen of Nizhny Novgorod graduated from Choral capella and who studied conducting in Gorky (ex-name of Nizhny Novgorod) music college (class of L. Morenova), in Gorky (class of professor E. Garkunov) and Leningrad (class of professor A. Yansons) conservatoires, started his quite successful creative and educational activities in 1963 (concertmaster and then artistic director of symphonic orchestra of music college); since 1969 he is the lecturer of conducting specialty and solo academic singing at Nizhny Novgorod State Conservatoire (academy) named after M. Glinka.
Concertmaster Elena Grishanova
Pianist and student of L. Sorokina (Children's music school #8), V. Kunina (Nizhny Novgorod music college), Elena who graduated from Nizhny Novgorod Conservatoire (class of senior lecturer L. Bogolyubova) in 2000 and post-graduated in 2006 (scientific leader professor I. Kuznetsova), currently is the leading concertmaster of choral conducting cathedra at Nizhny Novgorod State Conservatoire (academy) named after M. Glinka.
